New Orleans Golf Courses

Bayou Oaks Golf Course
1040 Fillmore St., New Orleans LA 70124; Tel. 504.483.9396
This 54-hole facility has been around since 1936. The complex features three championship length courses: The Championship Course (7,061 yards), the Lakeside Course (6,054 yards) and the Wisner Course (6,465 yards). The Championship course is the top track, playing host to the annual New Orleans Metro Championships. These New Orleans golf courses all feature regional wildlife, including the occasional alligator; use caution looking for balls lost in the rough. Green fees range from $10-$20.

English Turn Country Club
One Clubhouse Dr., New Orleans LA 70131; Tel. 504.391.8018
This exclusive private New Orleans golf course is the site of the annual New Orleans PGA tour stop. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, English Turn Country Club is a world-class course. Water comes into play on every hole, literally, and the course was designed not only to challenge the best golfers in the world, but also to handle the unique drainage issues of New Orleans, year-round. The 18th at English Turn is widely considered the toughest hole on the PGA Tour.

Oak Harbor Golf Club
201 Oak Harbor Blvd., Slidell LA 70458; Tel. 504.646.0110
Water comes into play on 12 of 18 holes at Oak Harbor, one of the area's top golf courses. About 30 minutes from New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is worth the trek. This New Orleans golf course opened in 1992 and was subsequently nominated for best new public course in the country by Golf Digest. Green fees are in the $35-$70 range, but country club service is par at this New Orleans golf course.

The Golf Club of New Orleans at Eastover - NewOrleans-Louisiana.com Editor's Pick
5889 Eastover Dr., New Orleans LA 70128; Tel. 504.245.7347
This 36-hole facility is considered the top golf destination in the New Orleans area. Featuring the four-star "Teeth of the Gator" course (7,025 yards) and the allegedly kinder, gentler "Rabbit's Foot" course (6,825 yards). Scenic, well maintained and highly praised by reviewers, both New Orleans golf courses compliment each other well. The facility, which opened in 2000, plays host to qualifying events for the PGA Tour, the US Open, the US Senior Open and the US Amateur Championships. Green fees are steep but well worth it: $70-$100.
